[image] The Wall Street Journal reports that outgoing FCC Chairman Kevin Martin wants to offer free Wi-Fi to all porn-free Wi-Fi, to be more specific. The no-smut specification is a little troubling, since drawing a straight line through the massive gray area of propriety isn't a simple task, but the FCC has also proposed a version of the plan that would allow adults to opt out of the filtering. ... can and cannot consider as offensive. Martin has stated that the option of Adults choosing to opt-out of the filter and have full Internet access. But that really isn’t the issue. With the FCC deciding what is and isn’t offensive, they have to observe and analyze traffic. And that could amount to a massive invasion of privacy.
Then again, privacy can have its price and can simply opt to continue paying for their Internet access and avoid it altogether.
