Modder haphazardly shoves an N64 into a Wii shell
Published 11/21/2008 by Darren Murph at Engadget
... have to pay attention. Without any rhyme or reason, this here modder decided it best to gut the internals of his Wii and replace them with the innards of an N64. Of course, he could've just referenced someone else's work for getting an N64 controller to play nice with Nintendo's latest, but we suspect that just wasn't the itch he was trying to scratch. The current bid is just $49.99, so those intrigued enough to actually have it shipped to their house can bid away. [Via Nintendo Wii Fanboy] Filed under: Gaming Modder haphazardly shoves an N64 ...
‘Wii 64’ is a Nintendo 64-infused Wii

... plays real games. What’s most impressive, I suppose, is that the whole thing looks pretty natural with the slight exception of the side panel jutting outwards a bit to make room for the N64 controller port.
Take note, Nintendo: when you release Wii HD or whatever it’ll be called, please include a cartridge slot with various adapters for NES, Super NES, and N64 games.

For no real reason, a Nintendo 64 crammed into a Wii

... the Virtual Console. And there's no way he was able to do this while leaving the guts of the Wii inside, making this basically just a white N64.
Here's a tip, Wii owners: just use the Virtual Console. You don't need to keep those cartridges around, and you'll be able to play games from basically every Nintendo system from one box. What this mod does is decrease the functionality of the original, which I don't think should be the point of any good mod.

Presenting the Wii64

... no idea why would anyone want this but nonetheless here it is. Someone decided to stick in his retro Nintendo 64 console in a Wii chassis. In all Wii glory, a lucky person will be able to play all the lovely N64 games on this ‘one of a kind’ Wii64. For added coolness, the blue light works when the console is turned on. Currently auctioned at eBay with the bid standing at $152.50.
